Every time I read that passage, I think about how Phillips answer to the eunuch would’ve been a series of questions, a recitation of various canonical statutes and a heartbroken man heading back to Ethiopia.
It’s literally true that every time I read that passage, I get sad.

God is in the little.
God is in the tiny details and the quiet voices.
We so misunderstand or devalue humility that we can’t hear Him.
Because we won’t love the tiny, the seeming unimportant, we simply can’t imagine a God who will stop the universe and sit with us.

In days when we look for upright leadership and authentic discipleship in the Church, Cardinal George gives an example of what it looks like.

He clearly articulated the Faith, was committed to reform, was honest and accountable, was genuine and authentic, and was holy.

Last night I replied to a troubled girl who said she’s going to get an abortion.

I simple said, “I will adopt the baby & support your pregnancy.” I’d rather her keep it, but I was serious & hope she sees my offer & won’t kill the baby.
