The desire to act, help & save lives calls to my colleagues around the world.

Yet, too often, aid workers cannot respond or are forced to make sacrifices.

Inaction is mainly linked to underfunding, but the #CostofInaction is paid in human sufferings.

We cannot let this happen.

In 1994, one million children, women & men were killed in the genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.

We will never forget the victims.

Nor will we ever forget the bravery & resilience of those who survived, whose courage & willingness to forgive remain a burst of light & hope.

From a pinch of empowerment, a dash of dignity or a sprinkle psychosocial support - the recipe for better health can look different to everyone.

We all deserve it, but not everyone has it.

In this holy month of Ramadan, may our prayers for peace be accompanied by action to end the suffering of women and children caught in the middle of conflicts.

The end of this war is so long overdue.

It is not enough for six months of war to be a moment of remembrance and mourning.

It must also spur a collective determination that there be a reckoning for this betrayal of humanity.

Living amongst deadly landmines and explosive ordnance is stark reality for communities around the world 🌏

But hope shines through thanks to brave deminers and projects like this in Syria 💪

The war in Gaza is THE deadliest conflict on Earth for aid workers.

My heart is broken for the families of the killed @WCK aid workers, who delivered food to Palestinian people - no matter the danger.

Aid workers are #NotATarget , it's written in the Rules of War. Ceasefire Now.

I still remember the children's smiles and hopeful faces from my visit in #Yemen .

The UN-brokered truce has created conditions for these children to chase their dreams. But hunger and malnutrition is rising again.

We must not let this hard-earned progress in Yemen unravel.
