Of the things discussed on our site orientation day, a question I posed that was most meaningful to me was, “What do you look for in a supervisor?”

A focus for the day was on the climate & culture. That was an important part of the climate & culture I want to foster at school.

Been planning, designing, preparing, & now that I’ll facilitate it today, here are pics of set up of school-specific @BreakoutEDU game for site orientation.

Purposeful activity: team building, learning about parts of campus, discovering resources, honoring foundations, & more.

It’s for making shadow profile pictures.

With videos & posts about teachers feeling certain ways about team building events, I’ve decided to write a school-specific @breakoutedu game. Still a team builder but has purpose to hunt for clues around campus, learn about changes to bell schedule, & get to know each other.

You’ve only got one life to live. You can’t dwell in the past. You’ve got to make the most of what you have in the present. Make the most of it.

12 years. Hard to imagine. Not sure I’m getting as much out of Twitter as I used to with all the educators I connected with and built my PLN.

I always try to stay present but it’s hard when tasks and to do lists are always on my mind. Why is it that it’s still hard to stay present during the summer?

It’s wonderful to be a home owner.

It also stinks to be a home owner because of repairs, plumbing, paint, roof, property taxes, and repairs. Oh, I said that already?

The norm of presuming positive intentions is important.

We tend to judge ourselves by our intentions and others by their actions. This isn’t fair.

Fear, real or perceived, is arguably the most powerful form of manipulation.

Great leaders understand the value in the things we cannot see.

Engineer the outcome you want from the beginning. #booksnap

Is there such thing as 20/20 foresight?

Always seek the truth. When there’s a void of information, a tendency is to create a narrative that’s based on assumptions or perceived truths. We make decisions based on what they think we know.

Though I have more days on my admin calendar, today’s last school day marked the end of year 22.

It was great to take the fifth grade students of the school to visit the middle school. They enjoyed seeing the campus and hearing what they’ll experience next year.

Stick with your tribe.

It’s been said to surround yourself with your allies and also to include people who disagree with you so you can grow / not be in an echo chamber / etc.
The important thing is balance. When you’re pulled down with the negativity, go back to your tribe.

Staying positive doesn’t mean things will all work out. It means you will be okay even when things don’t work out.
