On Wednesday to Regents Park where, witnessed by a motley crew of Deputy Lieutenants, we planted a black poplar to celebrate the end of the Queen’s Green Canopy programme. One more sapling to join the 3 million plus trees planted across the UK in Her Majesty’s honour.

Last week HRH The Duke of Edinburgh visited a London Youth member club Salmon Youth Centre in #Bermondsey . It was a joyful and event-packed evening and provided a welcome relief from the tough realities faced by many of the club’s members.

One privilege as L-L is to present, on behalf of The King, honours to people who are unable to attend a Palace ceremony. This week, my Vice L-L and I were honoured to present his MBE to Ivor Jencks for services to business, charity and sustainable development in Vietnam.

Baroness Betty Boothroyd OM PC was a pioneering Speaker of the UK House of Commons. The first female in 700 years and a fierce defender of Parliament. Yesterday I was honoured to serve at St Margaret's Westminster Abbey as her life was celebrated by a packed congregation of Parliamentarians.

Last night saw the annual London Government Dinner. A gathering of the Civic leaders of all 32 Boroughs hosted by Michael Mainelli Lord Mayor of the City of London. The theme was connectedness. Wonderful to see such unity of purpose in these dived times.

What a year! Despite the many sad events, those who believe in our values have had a good one. Investitures for community workers, key allies' State visits, military & Civic celebrations and, of course, The Coronation, have demonstrated the power of our values. Happy 2024!

The holiday break provides an opportunity to reflect on the past year's monumental highs and lows.

Against the turbulent backdrop of geopolitics, our values of #Duty & #Service were celebrated this weekend. The #FieldofRemembrance @Wabbey, the Royal British Legion #FestivalofRemembrance Royal Albert Hall and the moving ceremony Xenocrat were amplified across the 32 Boroughs of London

On a busy day for Their Majesties (it started with the State Opening of Parliament!) they delighted @NHS and @Charity workers by joining them at a special performance of #ROHQuixote Royal Opera House (made possible by generosity of philanthropists Doug & Cheri King)

Last Thursday, 18 Gold Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Awards were presented Royal Air Force Club. Recipients were large and small, public and private.  Each has pledged to support their British Army 🇬🇧, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force reservists. A welcome commitment in an unstable time.

On Monday, @RURI_org President, HRH The Duke of Kent, officially reopened its Whitehall offices post a £12.2m refurb.  He unveiled a crest stone commemorating sacrifices of Commonwealth soldiers, a plaque in the Sir Naim Dangoor Hall and saw his portrait for the first time.

Last Saturday 12 London Jordan Rager units competed for the Greater London RFCA @ElworthyTrophy CTC Frimley Park showcasing their skills, teamwork, and spirit from archery through first aid to raft building. Won by 14F (Northolt) Sqn, sponsored by Fletchers’ and the Blacksmiths
