Forever curious. Artist, writer, photographer, reader, runner, nerd. Enchanted by the natural world, angered by our treatment of it. Always happier outside.

Promised myself if I woke up early I’d go to the forest to listen to the birds. Woke up at 4.30am, so off I went...

Southerly winds have brought some colourful migrant birds to our shores so I've painted a few that are showing up right now. (Hoopoe, Golden Oriole etc. And as for the Wallcreepers, well, one can hope!)

These stones are available on my website, here: kerrieanngardner.co.uk/product-catego…

Not long now until the woods turn green again. I hope we get another morning like this one from last year. The fog was so thick it felt like the trees and I had been submerged, and Bluebells bloomed from the riverbed.

Dear folk who sketch and keep nature journals - how do you get over the embarrassment of drawing in public? I’ve created art in solitude for so long now that I’m finding it difficult to adjust, especially as I’m very out of practice with sketching. Just me or do you feel it too?

For years I've hoped to stumble across a Long-tailed tit nest and today I found one in the garden!

It's a work of art. Sorry you can't see much of it in my picture. It's buried deep in Bramble and I didn't want to disturb them. But I'm so pleased.

Cosiness epitomised!

A beautiful morning of peach-coloured clouds and pink-tinted rainbows. Birds overhead turn copper in the sunlight. I go out to gather some kindling, get Wren-blasted in the barn by a wiggle-tailed male singing full tilt. Clouds gather. A Blackcap sings. I listen, and smile.

Well Matt Gaw ✨, I’m halfway through your book and already I’ve embraced singing, dancing and running in the rain. I used to avoid rainy runs, but I’ll admit they’re much more fun than I was expecting (although I don’t think I’ll ever enjoy the sensation of wet shoes!)
