Think I've found my new favourite bit of public statuary. In Evesham there's this lovely depiction of 8th-century swineherd Eof being visited by the Virgin Mary. He told the Bishop of Worcester who sensibly decided to found the abbey that gave rise to the town. Isn't it perfect?

Railway Station 53. Cambridge. It's rail replacement again, so there's no call for me to use the interior, and I'm not doing a show tonight, so there's no call for me to post this. But. I love Cambridge, love its station with weird mega-long platform, love you all.❤️

Railway Station 52. Royston. All aboard the rail replacement bus from the strike day stopping train! Cambridge, I will reach you regardless. Also, hats off to Great Northern for solid advance planning on the bus queue.

Railway Station 51. Bristol Temple Meads. Isambard, you old dog. Congrats on your neo-Elizabethan train palace, a sprawling Hampton Court of Great Western splendour. I only hope that my hour-long comedy show tonight is an equally important contribution to Bristol.

Railway Station 50. Exeter St Davids. Travelling on a strike day, I am of course a big scab, so have decided to limit my station insights and wacky facial expressions. I was here. It is a station.

Railway Station 49. Exeter Central. A demure station building, an uninspiring ticket hall, and then the great gappy gorge of the platforms. A station fighting for its dignity given the removal of so many tracks and the greater fame of St David's. Hang on in there!

Railway Station 48. Bristol Parkway. A curiosity, this. A changeover station almost wholly divorced from place. Depending on how you look at it, it fulfils the ultimate function of a station, existing entirely in railway world, OR it's a kind of unstation, a nothing!

Railway Station 47. Swansea/Abertawe. The culmination of a long and idyllic journey from Crewe, the Gateway To The Gower is neat, humble, a little cramped in its concourse but with platforms open to forests and sky. Plus cool bilingual arrow porch out the front!

Lunch 17. Molly's determined to stop me just eating cheesy chips and so whipped us up an amazing salad for lunch on the Crewe to Swansea train. Plus an easy peeler pud: perfection!

Railway Station 46. Crewe. The Unavoidable, The Irresistible, The Ferrovian Charybdis. As a touring comedian, sooner or later you're gonna get to Crewe and have to fight your way through 3 cancelled London trains' worth of dejected passengers. HS2'll sort it all out.

Bus Station 5. Inverness. Lovely clean and friendly terminal building with well-used cafe and comprehensive information centre. Still, the Scots will insist on calling stands, 'stances'.

Bus Station 4. Portree. I made it! Eleven hours after leaving Newcastle, by two of the most scenic train routes and two of the most scenic bus routes in the country. Knackered but ready to rock the Isle Of Skye Candle Company Visitor Centre Theatre. (Genuinely lush)

Bus Station 3. Invergarry Hotel. A charmingly-appointed little shelter where 7 of us from the Inverness to Fort William bus have changed for the Fort William to Portree bus. Fresh Highland air, tremendous views of the river Garry. A treasure.

Railway Station 45. Inverness. Greater in romantic appeal than architectural, offering trains to Wick and Kyle of Lochalsh from its unremarkable concourse.

Lunch 16: Pulled Mushroom Benedict from Velocity Cafe, Inverness. Absolute 10/10.

Seat 42: B5 on the 0838 Edinburgh to Inverness. A lovely right-hand backwards facer which should give me excellent views of the Cairngorms and Ben Vrackie once the rain clears. Right? Plus BONUS, it's on a refurbished HST.
