Your daily reminder that this book exists and that the narrative about guilt-ridden Nazis is complete nonsense - as well as being deeply insidious.

Momentarily breaking silence - the parameters of the colonial Sonderweg debate are mindnumbingly parochial. People take the most simplistic definitions of both Nazi atrocities and of imperialism and then proceed to make increasingly boring arguments...on both sides, I might add.

I see Trump's old story about General Pershing's use of pig's blood to terrorize Muslims is still doing the rounds. Every single historian consulted claimed that it never happened - yet so far I have found evidence of at least four separate instances when it *did* in fact happen.

Amazing story - I know for a fact that survivors of the Bud Dajo Massacre were exhibited at the 1907 Jamestown Exposition. Human zoos, extermination and colonial violence go hand in hand...

I like this - have been thinking a lot about the 'point' of studying historical atrocities, when both victims and perpetrators are long gone. Mobilizing moral outrage won't save anyone.

But the fact is that there is no single point of success, it's always an ongoing process...
