We're livid.

Rogue logging agency ForestFireManagement continue to exploit Dandenong Ranges NP for profit.

We documented all hollow-bearing trees & gave FFMV the data so they'd protect them. Yet they keep felling habitat trees, including at least one with a mammal nest inside.

The colour difference contrasts windthrown trees (dark) w/ live standing trees (light).

This isn't fire management. This is commercial logging.

This Greater Glider woke up in the middle of the day, had a stretch & looked out at the world below its tree hollow 🌳

They are nocturnal, so it's fairly rare to see them awake outside of their dens in the daytime ☀️

'Old-growth forests are resistant to fire because they are less dense and their limbs are higher, meaning there is less fuel for fire to reach the crowns of trees. They also store water more effectively than second growth, decreasing their wildfire risk.' piquenewsmagazine.com/local-news/for…

I cannot believe we are still having to fight - more then ever - to save animals, trees and habitat. Literally decades of ecocide perpetrated by the Labor political party, the duopoly. @australianlabor Tanya Plibersek Anthony Albanese

More old-growth logging on public lands moving ahead under the banner of 'fire hazard/restoration', this time on the Nez Perce-Clearwater NF in Idaho. This project already struck down in court once, but agency will repackage and try again. lmtribune.com/northwest/nez-…

Has logging really stopped? Or just renamed by logging interests and govt 'land managers - like Forest Fire Management Vic (FFMV). Despite assurances, logging is STILL continuing under other guises. Please have your say. facebook.com/groups/EastGip…

This morning I lay witness to perhaps 20% of the entire Swift Parrot population.

Thrill and despair in the same scene. To think they could be extinct within a decade.

We need to do more. Their value is greater than that of harvested timber.

Brings back memories of how VicForests did 'daily monitoring' for evidence of koalas. (Absolutely no one believes they did).

Victoria has planned 1000 planned burns over the next 3 years.

Some conservationist think it's 'excessive' and endangered species and ancient tree hollows are being put at risk.
