On April 17, Torrance community members gathered at the George Nakano Theatre to chat with our CEO, Dr. Adams Kellum, about their concerns about homelessness. This was a great start to future collaborations! Thank you to everyone who came out!

LAHSA's Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) deepen our culture of equity and inclusion. First up from our ERG spotlight, Employees with Lived Experience! This group works with staff who have experienced homelessness, so they feel supported in the workplace.

The Los Angeles Unified School District is celebrating the grand opening of Sun Kings Apartments, a new affordable housing complex! Thanks to Proposition HHH funding and the work of Many Mansions, this 26 unit complex will provide families with children the safe space they need!

Meet Patricia, a woman whose illness left her unable to work, and living in her car. Amy from LAHSA Outreach guided Patricia all the way from interim housing to permanent housing, with the help of Valley Oasis, The People Concern, Salvation Army, and MHALA. #WelcomeHome Patricia

LAHSA joined our CEO, Dr. Va Lecia Adams Kellum, and Alpha Kappa Alpha at their 95th Annual Far Western Regional Conference to create Childhood Hunger Initiative Power Packs (CHIPP) consisting of non-perishable food items and toiletry bags for providers to give to their clients!

Over the past 5 years, the number of Latinos experiencing homelessness has increased 70%. In response to this, LAHSA created the Latinx Taskforce. Their goal is to look at causes of the increase and provide recommendations on how to better serve this population.

With the help of SSG HOPICS, LAHSA’s outreach team brought 17 of our unhoused neighbors inside South LA’s Grand Corridor encampment. It took our team only one day to move each person into interim housing thanks to a new LA Global Care facility!

Seniors experiencing homelessness are among our most vulnerable unhoused neighbors. LAHSA enrolls seniors in Supplemental Security Income, Veteran Affairs benefits, and other programs that help them keep or secure housing. We’re working hard to ensure our elders have a home.
