One year ago today, Diane Abbott had the Labour whip suspended.

Starmer's 'investigation' into her is a sham.

Restore the whip!

Diane Abbott has been suspended from the PLP for 365 days - without even being given a hearing.

None of the possible explanations for treating Britain's first black woman MP like this - incompetence, malice, contempt for due process, racism - is a good look for Starmer's Labour.

Restore the whip to Diane Abbott MP the first black woman MP. Diane has fought for social justice for decades - she should be back in the Parliamentary Labour Party 🌹

I'm calling again for the whip to be restored to Diane Abbott MP

The treatment of her has been appalling. The way in which her case has been dealt with in comparison with others leaves Labour open to charges of discrimination towards the 1st black woman MP

Stephen Lawrence was murdered in a racist attack 31 years ago today.

Today we remember Stephen and his family’s unstinting struggle for justice.

In his name, we continue the work of eradicating racism in policing, the justice system, and across society.

There is no such thing as “a sick note culture.” There is a record high NHS waiting list, crippling housing costs, widespread food poverty, stagnant wages and inadequate benefit rates, a broken social care system, dire mental health services, and closed Sure Start centres.

Hear that?

It’s the sound of the UK government scraping the bottom of the barrel by attacking sick and stressed people EVEN MORE.

We know where this leads: sick and stressed people taking their own lives after being passed “fit for work”.

Disgusting.

Memo to Sunak.
❌ The UK is not a sick note country.
❌ It is decades of neoliberalism & austerity that have broken this country.
✅We need investment in people & services.
✅We need a right to good food & homes.
✅We need a publicly owned NHS
✅In short: Socialism.

More damage was done in this drone attack by Israel on a playground in the Maghazi refugee camp than Iran’s attack at the weekend. It killed 11, mostly children. Yet it’ll be a mere footnote at best. That’s the value our media places on Palestinian lives.

Tata's threat to withdraw redundancy deals from those campaigning for jobs is morally bankrupt.

This assault on the right to strike is an attempt to intimidate their staff and blackmail the union.

Solidarity with steel workers and Unite.

This is a very dangerous moment.

Today I called on our Government to help de-escalate this situation - including by backing an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

I also called for it to hold an independent investigation into the recent Israeli killing of British nationals in Gaza.

Millions of us have been calling for a ceasefire to stop the loss of life and prevent a wider conflict.

Political leaders have chosen to ignore us — and their failure to facilitate de-escalation has endangered everyone.

The world is in a truly perilous state. It’s time to

Britain is actively participating in a war - without any parliamentary or public debate.

With Starmer and Sunak issuing almost identical statements tonight, we appear to have become a one-party state with a foreign policy that has no moral compass or basis in international law.

Nothing says “tough” quite so much as telling millions of people you’re willing to order their deaths from a concrete bunker.

So tough.

This Tribune article provides a very telling and comprehensive analysis. It affirms my call for an independent review of the Labour Party's selection process.

To give you an idea of the size of Gaza, it takes 10 hours to walk from the north to the south, about the same as from Newcastle to Hartlepool. 45,000 bombs were dropped by Israel into that tiny space, just in the first 3 months. This is what collective punishment looks like.
