🇪🇺 Good morning from Brussels.

I’m here attending the Euro Summit, meeting the leaders of the 20 euro area countries.

On the agenda:

🔹 the economic outlook
🔹 capital markets union

I was delighted to meet with Danmarks Danmarks Nationalbank Governor Christian Kettel Thomsen to sign the agreement to add Danish krone payments to the Eurosystem’s TARGET services.

This will benefit people beyond the euro area and reinforce Europe’s financial system integration.

I was delighted to meet with Bank for International Settlements General Manager Agustín Carstens this morning in Frankfurt.

The BIS is an important partner for the European Central Bank and we collaborate on many topics.

I was happy to welcome Mike Josef, the Lord Mayor of the City of Frankfurt am Main, to our main building this afternoon.

These meetings give us the opportunity to discuss our common priorities.

The changes to our operational framework acknowledge the significant changes in the financial system and monetary policy in recent years. The framework will ensure that our policy implementation stays effective, robust, flexible and efficient in the future ecb.europa.eu/press/pr/date/…

We have made progress on gender equality, but better is not good enough.

Today, on International Women’s Day I spoke about the importance of closing the gap at the Professional Women’s Network’s Global Summit.

We are determined to return inflation to our 2% target, said President Christine Christine Lagarde after the ECB kept interest rates unchanged today.

We need to be sufficiently confident of reaching our target before cutting rates.
