2011: In Glenn v. Brumby, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the ruling that the Georgia General Assembly discriminated against Vandy Beth Glenn (pictured), a transgender woman who was fired—an important ruling in federal court for the rights of transgender employees.

2012: In Couch v. Wayne Local School District, Lambda Legal protected Maverick Couch’s (pictured) right to wear his 'Jesus Is Not A Homophobe' shirt to his Ohio high school, affirming students’ rights to free speech.

2012: Lambda Legal secured equal health insurance coverage for the spouse of federal employee Karen Golinski (pictured right) after a U.S. District Court ruled the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) was unconstitutional.

2012: In Harris v. Millennium Hotel, Lambda Legal challenged Alaska's exclusion of same-sex couples from survivor benefits on behalf of Deborah Harris (pictured), whose partner was shot dead by a disgruntled former employee.

2013: In Garden State Equality, et al. v. Dow, et al., the New Jersey Superior Court ruled in favor of marriage equality.

2013: In Hollingsworth v. Perry, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that proponents of Prop 8 had no right to appeal the district court ruling. The freedom to marry resumed in California.

2014: The Iowa Supreme Court reversed the conviction of Nick Rhoades (pictured) and recognized the evolving scientific understanding of HIV transmission and that HIV-positive people who have a suppressed viral load from effective treatment may pose little risk of transmission.

2014: A Lambda Legal victory led to the Social Security Administration (SSA) paying Robina Asti (pictured), a 92-year-old transgender woman, the survivor benefits she was denied after her husband’s death.

2015: In the historic Obergefell v. Hodges decision that included Lambda Legal’s case Henry v. Hodges, the U.S. Supreme Court declared that denying same-sex couples the freedom to marry violates the U.S. Constitution.

2016: In a groundbreaking ruling, the New York high court ruled nonbiological parents can seek custody and visitation.
