When we study scripture, or anything else, we cannot overstate the importance of context.

One of the Christian’s greatest joys is meditating on the character of the transcendent, triune God.

At its heart Christianity is knowing God.

The Holy Spirit doesn’t guide each one of us to our own personal truth. He guides us toward unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God. He guides us into all truth, and makes us one in Christ.

The Holy Spirit doesn't prompt us to gloat over the failures of our enemies.

If we love them (as Christ has commanded) then we will hope their failures lead them to right thinking, right conduct, repentance, obedience to the gospel and salvation.

Fools mock God's timing. Jesus didn't come down from the cross because he was there in accordance with the Father's will, to purchase our redemption. God's apparent silence and inactivity always serve his divine purposes.

Believers are called to live as children of light, and find out what pleases the Lord. May we answer his call each day without fail.
