The folks of central Louisiana are fortunate to have a thoughtful and intentional senator in Jay Luneau.

'Have the courage, the strength, and the wisdom to do the right thing.'

.Commish. Davante Lewis, Louisiana's first openly gay elected state official, is speaking against LA's version of the 'don't say gay' bill. 'This is the first time I’ve ever talked about being gay at this dais, in any committee,' he said. 'But I feel a responsibility.'

Several of these same lawmakers (Villio, Seabaugh, Edmonston, Horton) voting against these bills, also voted against providing period products in schools. They are showing us who they are and clearly they don’t care about women.

Lawmakers are taking up two bills today to clarify what medical conditions (including miscarriage) could be used to seek a legal abortion under Louisiana's abortion ban.

They are unlikely to get through the committee. Here's some background: lailluminator.com/2023/05/10/lou…

Horton said she hasn't heard from any doctors in North Louisiana who have had issues with the abortion ban.

At least 1 doctor from North Louisiana -- a specialist who treats women with high-risk pregnancies -- has said the ban is unclear. lailluminator.com/2022/11/01/lou…

Multiple victims of rape have shared their stories today, while supporting a bill that would add rape as an exception to Louisiana's abortion ban.

One victim said there is no doubt in her mind, if she was forced to carry her rapist's baby that she would have died by suicide.
