Last year there were 175 work-related deaths in B.C. Today is a #NationalDayofMourning for those fallen workers & those in years past. Each year we do our best to prevent these deaths. We need to be concerned & be alert to worker safety every day. It saves lives.

The 13th annual Party for the Planet #EarthDay celebration filled Civic Plaza Saturday The event showcased environmental initiatives, sustainable living - learning to garden plus ocean conservation, many vendors selling eco-friendly goods. It’s our only planet! Love it!

South Asian Community Hub (SACH Community Hub) supports men & women experiencing challenges from substance use, mental health, or socioeconomic hardship. I was deeply touched by the success stories I heard at the SACH Gala. This is valuable work & needs to be done.

Apologies for being late posting. It has been a hectic week. Thanks to everyone who came by the @SurreyFIrst booth at Vaisakhi last Saturday. We served more than 15 thousand guests. #OurSurrey outdid itself in welcoming half a million visitors to our amazing city.

Non-profit Surrey Crime Prevention Society runs safety patrols, graffiti cleanup & speed watches w/100s of youth volunteers. Surrey Crime Prevention Society volunteer President Mani Fallon says its $300K funding has been suspended by the Mayor. Youth preventing crime is really important.

In Her Shoes celebrated women through fashion, music and food with proceeds to Sources Women’s Place, a day program with support in a safe, confidential & non-judgmental way. Thanks to Jaida Hay, the Event Costume Director. SOURCES

Arts Umbrella is a non-profit Centre for arts education for youth 2–22. It gives opportunities to develop in Art & Design, Dance, Theatre, Music & Film. The arts give kids self-confidence, self-discipline, & ways to express themselves. Thanks @PaulLarocque @TerryTurner
