I am astonished by #ThePiano on Channel 4. Boisterous, bolstering and incredibly joyous how one instrument can transform so many lives. Listeners included. I’ve cried three times already and I’ll never rush past a street performance again muttering about noise pollution.

The Diplomat sneaks up on you. Steals from Homeland, West Wing, In the Loop etc but unspools conflicts with simmering menace, dark comedy, true characters and most bruising depiction of a marriage in trouble had me devouring all 8 eps in a hurry. Bring me series 2 right now.

Just like his extraordinary Poverty Safari, Darren McGarvey’s The State We’re In is both hopeful / bereft viewing. I’m despondent after all 3 eps. If our COURTS, SCHOOLS & HOSPITALS are all failing us, a revolution is overdue, but powerlessness will probably prevail.

Find it endlessly frustrating that eventbrite allows organisers to be ‘followed’ but doesn’t feel the need to share information with us, eventprofsuk. Has anyone found a workaround?

Dystopia Thai drama mashes Hunger Games/Squid Game, reality dating & Handmaid’s Tale for dark lols. Bingeing all 6 eps. Men are almost extinct so few remaining audition elite women and one ‘lotto’ winner who is only there to save her sister’s life. Outstanding (so far!)

Writing fiction is translating the characters, events and images of your imagination so seamlessly to the page that the same story, in all its vividness, unfolds in your reader’s mind as they receive it. Easy, right? Ugh.

Oh how much I loathed One Day first time around (threw my copy at the wall thanks to that ending) and now here we go again
