Last week 2 teams entered the Merseyside Chess tournament at North Liverpool Academy.20 teams battled across the chess boards for 5 gruelling rounds in a rapid time format. 'A' team came 2nd, qualifying for the National Finals.Congratulations and good luck for the next round!♟️⭐️

Today students have worn a red accessory to raise awareness and money for #braintumourcharity . The students interpreted the 'wear red' in a variety of fun ways and over £1400 was raised.

The first ever Iftar evening last week in support of the Muslim members of our school community was a moving and special event. Students, parents and Muslim leaders all joined together to celebrate and recognise the importance of the month of Ramadan for our Muslim community.

💻⭐️We came 3rd at the #MerseysidepoliceCyberChallenge Final at Goodison Park. An amazing achievement! The tasks were incredibly challenging. The police commented on how well the students performed, they were the only students to fully complete some of the challenges.

It's been a busy week for Music! Last Sunday, 13 of our singers sang with LPYC, the RLPO and soprano, Jennifer Johnston. On Weds our organ scholars thanked Mr Wells for covering organ lessons this term. Last night our A Level musicians presented an outstanding recital evening.

On Saturday the 'Frederick Douglass' plaque was unveiled at @liveveryplay. Dr Wainwright & a select group of history students have been part of the team to choose this special commemorative plaque, and have also been part of subsequent workshops to celebrate and discuss his life.

The Music Dept visited the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic last week where they enjoyed a programme of music by Enescu, Prokofiev & Brahms conducted by Lawrence Foster, with violin soloist Arabella Steinbacher. A fantastic opportunity to hear world-class live orchestral music in an amazing venue!

This week, Matthew, Harsan & Harsha (Y12) visited the University of Oxford for a residential, part of the @aspire_liverpool Programme.They engaged in mock seminars,visited the Ashmolean & explored Oxford visiting other Colleges.They had an amazing time and want to apply to Oxford

Congratulations to our KS3 girls who are North West champions & are through to the National Badminton finals in Milton Keynes! Our KS3 boys were brilliant on the day but were beaten in the final. Well done to both teams and good luck in the finals girls! 👏🏸🏆

Well done to 149 x Year 9 students who completed their Bronze DofE practice this weekend. It was their first expedition, and the weather wasn't great for them, but they all seemed to have a great time and did really well in their navigation, campsite cooking and survival skills!

RCO Young Performers' Concert. The recital is a highly prestigious event to be invited to participate in, and Charles’s perfect rendition displayed his talent, hard work, and dedication.

Today at Liverpool Schools’ Parliament our students are discussing race and belonging. We’re excited to tell everyone about Culture Day and our community fast-a-thon!

WELL DONE to Merrin Y11, Angela Y10, Ekaterina Y9 & Aaron Y9, our 'Top of the Bench' chemistry team. Only 30 schools in the whole of the UK made the national finals in Edinburgh last weekend and they did incredibly well in a tough competition. The school is proud of you! 🧪🧫⭐️

On Friday BCS supported #comicrelief2024 with a staff netball match. It was competitive and a lot of fun!

The student support and behaviour were excellent- Well done for a really great school team effort. Over £720 was raised for this great charity! 🏐
