People often ask, 'What is the hardest part of your work?'

Today my answer would be that there is still no funding for universal pre-k, with record surpluses and 2 days left in the session.

That's what I want for Evelynne and every Kentucky child. Our families deserve better.

I love seeing education come to life for students. This group from The Learning Center in Fayette County is studying civics and came to the Capitol to meet with policy makers.

I learned so much during my time at University of Louisville. They have a group of students who are completing internships in Frankfort and I was happy to discuss their work in the Capitol.

It was good to be back home in Mercer County and present funding that will provide cleaner water to almost 1,000 residents.

We have secured significant raises for law enforcement, social workers and state employees.

Public school employees deserve the same respect and commitment.

Failing to invest in our teachers is a failure to invest in our economic future.

Today, while visiting storm-impacted communities in Boyd County, I witnessed the kindness and compassion of Kentuckians. It reminds me that, even during times of disaster, with our #TeamKentucky spirit, we can get through any challenge.

I visited the folks at KYEM to get an update on storm damage and thank our first responders for acting quickly to help our families. We’ve met every challenge united - and this is no different. We’ll get through it, together.

I visited My Sister’s Keeper, which recently opened in Owensboro. They are doing tremendous work by assisting women who are experiencing homelessness.

Education is the key to breaking cycles of poverty and creating new cycles of success. I was blessed to speak to the American Association of University Women about how we can invest in our educational system to make sure all Kentucky students can harness this opportunity.
