Need humbling? I can 10/10 recommend trying on bootcut jeans, I ordered after a few glasses of wine that I thought I could most definitely pull off. Dear reader I couldn’t have been more wrong.

There was no need for the lovely checkout lady to punch ‘definitely over 25’ quite so viciously at the self-service checkout. Teaching and writing must be taking its toll.

Honestly you take a twitter break for 24 hours and it all kicks off. How amazing is this?! @PrincessJen70 it has been a joy to see how much this story has grown and I can’t wait for the world to read it too. What an inspiration you are ♥️

Just devoured ‘The Paper Palace’ by Miranda Cowley Heller and it was phenomenal. Gave me similar vibes as Sorrow and Bliss and Three Women. Immediately given to Mum for her hols so I can talk about it with someone else some more!

Sometimes you have to dress up as Supergirl, go to the rugby and drink too many pints of cider to feel a bit more like yourself. Also will be adding capes to my wardrobe for the foreseeable… #london7s

Off to watch sevens at Twickenham tomorrow, staying in a Very basic Travelodge however the lobby is currently full of Spanish rugby players so I have has worse Friday nights.

When you’ve been trying to lend your mum this book for ages, raving about it and she casually sends me this and then asks if I’ve read it🙄

The occasional perks of marrying a chef. Don’t be fooled, my dinners are normally baked beans on toast for 1 but sometimes it’s scallops and asparagus valouté 👌😍

Today I said goodbye to my year 11s and my God it was emotional. First students I’ve bid farewell to without covid and it felt so wrong and oh so right. They’re ready to go and I wish them nothing but the best. Still spare a thought for us teachers who feel a little adrift.

Just had the wonderful experience of the dog aggressively barking at cupboard under the stairs whilst home alone. No physical murderer found lurking but I’m yet to rule out the presence of the supernatural. Salt circle pending.

Had to write a mammoth romance scene yesterday so decided to pop on Normal People for some inspiration. Readers… no writing was done, instead I stayed up till 3am, watched it all, sobbed more times than I can count and will be in a melancholic haze for the rest of the week.

Having a social husband is great but I left him alone for an hour and now I’m going to dinner with 4 Americans he met at the pool bar. 😳

Going on my honeymoon on Tuesday (belated due to covid) but covid has put a lot of pressure on the enjoyment of travel. Until I’m on the plane I don’t think I’ll fully believe it’s happening. I wonder if travelling without that feeling of constant panic will ever return.

Just finished watching The Maiden on Netflix. An absolutely incredible feat of sailing and putting a finger up at the macho world of competitive sailing. And yes I haven’t stopped sobbing since it ended 🥺

Just completed a fantastic virtual writing ‘retreat’ hosted by the wonderful @PrincessJen70 where I finally got to chat with my fellow Kentish lass Chloe Timms and crossed the 40k word mark on the rewrite. A very productive writing day all round. ✍️ #WritingCommunity
