I suggest the woman on the left reads 'The Authority Gap' by Mary Ann Sieghart if she truly wants to understand where the problem lies.

Btw men have 'emotional' reactions too - it often just manifests in the form of anger which people mistake for 'leadership'.

Im reading 'the authority gap' atm. Some very interesting insights. Lots of research has shown that some men just get away with bullshitting and confidence is often mistaken with competence.

Brilliant TED talk on gender inequality by Mary Ann Sieghart. How to Close the Authority Gap… women are simply taken less seriously than men. And I for one am getting a bit fed up of it.

Why are female politicians still taken less seriously? And how could listening to them save our lives?

Mary Ann Sieghart joins Alona Ferber on The New Statesman Podcast to discuss why it's in everyone's interest to close the authority gap.

Women are (still) taken less seriously than men, despite proven competence and expertise. This is what author Mary Ann Sieghart (@masieghart) calls “the authority gap.”

Heading to work today listening to one of my favorite podcasts, I learned about the 'authority gap' - a preconceived notion that women are incompetent and must prove their competence to shift opinions, unlike men..Mortified women have to experience this.

Planning a workshop on the authority gap, I emailed a colleague to say she didn't need to be a 'middlewoman'. Apple immediately autocorrected it to 'middleman'. How meta is that??
