Governments need to work to change this. The cost of delivering projects needs to go down and the time to completion must be shortened.

Despite high demand for more housing, there is a mismatch with the number of homes coming through the pipeline.

Fixing supply issues should be the focus of all political parties. Until they are addressed, we will continue to struggle with housing affordability.

Housing costs remain one of the central sources of inflationary pressure across the economy.

Meanwhile, economic growth in Australia is weak right now. Were it not for the strong performance of civil and engineering construction, the economy would be fairing even worse.

Skilled migrants already in Australia could fill workforce gaps in our industry, but currently, they face barriers like costly assessments and navigating a complex system. The Federal Budget provides an opportunity to streamline processes and offer support.
