My story today from South Jersey! I started covering Judge Kugler when he became a magistrate in 1992 and more recently during the trials of former Bordentown Township Police Chief Frank Nucera. He always treated the media fairly. He will be missed.

Here’s my explainer on the Wasim Muhammad verdict. Some were confused by the verdict. Lots of false reports that the defendants were exonerated. Jury will decide next whether to impose punitive damages.

A spokesman for Governor Phil Murphy on Camden School board Prez Wasim Muhammad:
“ … the appalling and heinous nature of these allegations casts doubt on Mr. Muhammad’s ability to effectively serve the Camden City School District. The Governor believes he should immediately resign.”

A mixed verdict in the Wasim Muhammad case. The jury rejected claims of sexual abuse and battery. But found that Muhammad inflicted emotional distress. Camden BOE found liable and grossly negligent on some counts and cleared on others. Jury awarded $1.6 million to the plaintiff.
