#OTD 5 years ago, our Redwire Space (Formerly Made In Space) Additive Manufacturing Facility (AMF) arrived to International Space Station! As the first commercial 3D printer on the ISS, AMF paved the way for commercial in-space manufacturing & provided key insights for new in-space manufacturing technologies. (Thread)
Crystals of all types have been grown on Earth and in space. What makes the nonlinear optical crystals from ICF so special? Check out this infographic on the differences between protein crystals, which are well studied on International Space Station, and our optical crystal:
We are one day away from the launch of our Industrial Crystallization Facility (ICF)! ICF will be the first facility to grow inorganic potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP) crystals aboard International Space Station. What does that mean & how will microgravity help? Learn more in this thread:
We’re launching our sixth manufacturing facility to International Space Station, the Industrial Crystallization Facility (ICF)! ICF is scheduled to launch from @NASA_Wallops aboard NG CRS-15 NET Feb. 20 at 12:36pm ET. Learn more: bit.ly/3jB4HyJ
