Another tornado is bearing down on a high population area. This time a confirmed tornado is heading the western side of Des Moines. This is a tornado on the ground doing damage.

Just unreal.

It is hard to watch days like today unfold. You know the long term effect these bigger events have on the trajectory of so many lives. It really leaves a pit in your stomach.

Today is a very good example of how storm mode matters. The discrete mode allow storms to take advantage of the turning winds and tornado like crazy. Yesterday was far different as the discrete storm mode “window” was far more narrow and resulted in mainly hailers and wind.

Another damaging tornado is on the ground NE of Omaha, NE. Awful day across Nebraska.

Absolutely unbelievable. Multiple suction vortices with the rotation extremely tight to the ground. This is generally what you see as a precursor to very large tornadoes. This is absolutely terrifying when you see it in person.
