I feel like THIS is getting lost. They were suspended so that they could be charged with trespassing, which leaves them UNHOUSED, far from home. Their belongings were DUMPED. Like, I fucking cannot with the “book ban” misdirection. BODIES are being banned. From their rights.

Tonight at Columbia Jewish students led a full Shabbat service at the Gaza solidarity encampment. Minutes later Muslim students had their evening prayer service. All surrounded by love.

Please do let the world know: there are ways to live that aren’t being a paranoid bigot.

It’s pretty staggering this man has not been barred from teaching at Columbia, while its leadership had no trouble authorizing NYPD to mass arrest students and decided to suspend and evict others in a matter of minutes. Truly broken leadership at Columbia.

Columbia should not be calling the cops on its own students for engaging in nonviolent protest.

The university has a long history of respecting free speech on campus, and I support the faculty who are pleading with their administration to continue that tradition.

As a Columbia University alum and current adjunct lecturer, it's horrifying to see the university admin send in a police force (with a known record of brutality) to arrest students peacefully demonstrating.
