Watching the cartoon version of the wonderful - a story for parents *and* children if ever there was one - and realising I am now so much nearer the Pelican than I was.

Watching 's evidence at the - and the very worst of the 'senior corporate type persona' in all its glory. Emotionless, defensive, bland, sterile, dismissive, haughty. What makes people want to be like this? How could you live with yourself?

I love Clark's Civilization but don't always agree with his judgements and find his patrician manner at times grating. Isn't that normal? Or must we now either revere or hate - and have *only* those two options? We've created a bleak, noisy, pointless world if that's the case.

Working from home today, and 'The Six O'Clock Dog' has just woofed. Let me explain. During lockdown a neighbourhood dog was always, to the minute, a reliable reminder to take a break at 6pm. He'd woof for about 30 seconds, loudly.

He's adjusted to Summer Time badly. He's early.

Here's the memorial of a 17thc ancestor (my 7x great grandfather) who owned the land on which, eventually in the 1960s and by sheer fluke of chance, my parents' home was built. He wasn't born in the town, neither were my parents - or me - but all 4 ended up there.
