If you asked every single person receiving benefits to give two words to describe their experience of the welfare system, I doubt you'd hear a single mention of 'fairness' or 'compassion'

I've seen more than a few bad managers in my over 40 years of business, leadership, and consulting — including as the vice president of HR at Microsoft. Here are four traits I've seen in almost every one of them.

There's something to be said for businesses that do not require any outside investment whatsoever. As a former VC and now the owner of a small media company, I am quite enjoying this concept of generating more revenue than I spend.

His true - & nakedly cruel - colours.

First Rishi Sunak declares he’ll cut benefits for 420,000 sick & disabled people to force them into work.

Now, 2 days later, he scraps a major scheme, the Work & Health Programme, to help disabled people into work.

Our chart shows there's been an even bigger rise in people still working, *despite* being sick. So the opposite of a sicknote culture - actually people striving to keep going.

Rishi dude, you do know they are called ‘fit notes’ don’t you? Here is an idea to reduce sickness and ill health - invest in Public Health and interventions which create healthy environments, rather than viewing this as an individual issue (which it isn’t) bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politi…

From the government whose greatest hits include the meteoric rise in food bank use, fuel poverty, kids too cold & hungry to learn, falling life expectancy & the deliberate destruction of the NHS.

Victim blaming & pure, naked cruelty.

For shame, Rishi Sunak.

Ok just seen the front pages about 'sicknote culture'. These arguments are just full of holes.
Yes we should care about work and health, but top priority should be helping people *out of work already* not those who take time off sick.

First on Fit Notes, this is data since 2019:

🗣️ Almost two thirds of people in destitution live with a chronic health condition or disability. Cutting people’s eligibility for benefits won't help.

The PM's speech was an irresponsible war of words on people who already aren’t getting enough support.

Rishi Sunak today announced plans to review the fit note system for people who aren’t well enough to work, with a focus on mental health.

His speech continues a trend in recent rhetoric that is stigmatising, harmful, and inaccurate.

Here is Rishi Sunak setting back the campaign for mental health parity at least a decade.

This is un-evidenced, performative cruelty.

It's disgusting.
