The new Summerhouse in Oakwood, the historic heart of RHS Wisley, opened today. The structure has been installed to pay homage to horticultural icon Ellen Willmott, who spearheaded the acquisition of Oakwood by the RHS, which would go on to become RHS Wisley as we know it today.

Very impressive mahonia Windsor Great Park #SavillGarden and not one I’ve seen before. It’s Mahonia Bokrafoot and looks like a hugely improved aquifolium type. Apparently lots of blue berries later!

In studies of the flowering phenology of Japanese Cherries these two mark the middle of the 'Mid' season. Prunus 'Kanzan' (left) flowers just before P. avium 'Plena'. Things like P. x yedoensis and P. 'Shirotate' are distant memories now.

Despite the wet weather this camellia looked amazing at RHS Garden Wisley yesterday on our walk around the garden with Matthew Pottage. In fact the whole garden looked great and was full of colour.
