This warehouse was built in the 1850s for S. & J. Watts, the largest wholesale drapery business in Manchester. By the 1960s, Watts Warehouse fell into disuse and was threatened with demolition in 1972, but was saved and converted into the Britannia Hotel (which opened in 1982).
