Established April 14, 1948, the US Air Force Reserves counts close to 70,000 personnel in its ranks. From supporting traditional Air Force units to taking the lead in humanitarian aid, the US Air Force reservists are on standby daily to answer the call to 'Fly, Fight, and Win.'

On National Former Prisoner of War Recognition Day, over half a million service members are honored for their dedication and sacrifice. Today we share the story of Col. Carlyle “Smitty” Harris, an Air Force fighter pilot shot down and held prisoner in Vietnam for 2,871 days.
