MFRS also remains committed to educating the public over the dangers associated with open water and the hazards that are not always recognised.

The Service’s prevention teams engage with thousands of people each year to promote water safety and educate members of the public.

The FASTY unit can travel across the water to any person in need of rescue at speeds of up to 15 km/h.

This instantly enhances our capabilities at water rescue incidents where it is not always easy to gain access to the water to reach the people in need of rescue.

#MFRS is pleased to announce the delivery of four FASTY self-propelled remote-controlled life buoys.

We are one of the first Fire & Rescue Services in the United Kingdom to purchase and take delivery of these units as a direct response to the increased threat of water incidents.
