THREAD🧵: With so many leadership changes and policy u-turns, it is hard to keep track of the promises on which the Conservatives were elected to gov't in 2019.

I have had a detailed look back at their 2019 manifesto. ~AA 1/

🚨Excited to share that my first first-author paper is out today in G3!🚨 We present the first high-resolution 87Sr/86Sr data across the Triassic-Jurassic transition and reveal a multiphase, prolonged continental weathering scenario 🌋 1/2.

I'm readvertising a PhD as part of the PETRARCH looking at Cretaceous anoxic events with Boron isotopes. Closes April 12th, starts mid-September! I can't post a link because Musk thinks the UoB might be harmful (but apparently Trump is fine). . DM me I guess!

As Downing Street condemns the 'racist and wrong' comments by Tory donor Frank Hester (but shows no sign of returning £10m in gifts from Hester and his company), the new Eye reveals the whopping profits and dividends he's made from government NHS IT contracts.

35 days later, we're back on board RRS Sir David Attenborough with our friends! We had an amazing field season on Seymour Island collecting fossil & rock samples to study marine ecosystem change across the Cretaceous-Paleogene boundary & through the Eocene.

Seeing the pure joy in Chris Bryant 's face during the Kingswood count tonight is just brilliant. So clear that he's not just happy to win, but to do something positive with a victory. Such great news.

The 2nd PhD project within PETRARCH is still open for applications! Deadline 14th Feb. Come work within a vibrant team at University of Bristol Earth Sciences figuring out how LIP eruptions actually triggered OAEs, and what role the biological pump might have played. petrarch.blogs.bristol.ac.uk/join-us/

Sometimes, in the wee hours of the morning, you look down the microscope and it's as if you're looking through a telescope at some galactic phenomenon light years away.

These radiolaria appeared to be exchanging the pink symbionts - any ideas?

We have our first evidence of growth in culture! This little one came to us at 260 x 205 µm and died at 350 x 220 µm (with some room for error for viewing angle). The new silica it added should have incorporated boron at a different pH than seawater.
