Aristolochia delavayi .
This must be the most prolific early flowering plant in our garden and so many buds still to flower , and yes they really do stink .

Another amazing leaf in our Botanical collection and next to Trevesia I would say it’s my second favourite and hardy .
The new growth emerging now is nothing less than spectacular , Metapanax delavayi

I just love the colour of the new growth on our Brassiopsis hispida
All this years berries have now been harvested and over 60 seeds have been sown , a few have even germinated already ,I didn’t get any berries last year but we still have one 2 year old seedling left .

So glad to see new growth on our Meryta sinclairii, the puka tree .i was kindly given a cutting from My good friend Sean Boast a few years ago and it was growing beautifully, until a plant blew over and snapped the top off ,it’s taken a couple of years but looking good again now

Unusual leaf of the day is from my Isodon umbrosus given to me earlier this year by my good friend Philip Oostenbrink. This is the second time I’ve potted it on , this time into a 4l pot

Here’s hoping that the forcast low of 3 degrees forecast tonight dosnt bring frost with it as all the schefflera in our garden have produced their new tender growth .

Whilst walking past the greenhouse I noticed a pot of Bocconia frutescens seeds germinating. I sowed them quite a few months ago and had forgotten they were in there .
at least 10 have already germinated 🌱

Well Chuffed today as I found a shoot growing from the base of our Strobilanthes sp that was planted outside overwinter .
it had fleece cover for protection ,but in January I cut the stem back and covered with a bell cloche. We had low’s of -6 last winter here in Poole Dorset .
