.@LauraPidcockMP, the shadow employment rights minister, told the TUC congress in September that:

“..sector-wide collective bargaining will set minimum and legally binding pay, terms and conditions for every employer and every worker in the sector.”

This is why Jeremy Corbyn plans on collective bargaining matter so much. Compare bargaining coverage across Europe (green high, red low) with income inequality (lighter better, darker worse) @LauraPidcockMP

'[Boris Johnson] once said employment regulation was 'back breaking' and he voted for the 2016 anti-trade union Act, which stripped away employment protections and the provisions in the Bill offer no real protection at all.' - Jeremy Corbyn during today.

Important to note that the Comprehensive Economic & Trade Agreement (CETA)(suggested model for the EU/UK Free Trade Agreement) offers no protections for workers’ rights, merely a woolly declaration of support for ILO standards, not made binding on or enforceable against employers

We simply can’t gift Boris Johnson & his Thatcherite colleagues the power to rip up the basic protections that people have. I understand the weariness people feel over this process, but we cannot let that get in the way of putting working people first: mirror.co.uk/news/politics/…

A Thread: The Tories tell us to trust them on the brexit deal. To trust them on workers rights. To trust them on environmental protections. The stark reality for any MP voting today is you can never trust a Tory.....

Good that Govt have finally acknowledged need for legislation on tips, albeit 4 years too late & in a pre-election period. The Labour Party in Govt will go so much further, transforming the relations between employer and employee, so decent pay, protections & rights at work are the norm

Amazon spends time and money on social media and TV. All to convince us that working conditions in it’s warehouses are okay

But refuses to work with GMB Union to actually make real improvements

Are you buying it? 🤔👇

It’s high time we had a system run by our people for the benefit of our people.

It's why we're fighting for a Labour Government.

Time for

Hear Unite’s Dave Turnbull talk about unfair tipping practices including at Carluccio’s (at 22:41)

It's almost the first anniversary of the government’s promise to legislate to tackle bad employment practices. It’s still NOT LAW!

Higher levels of collective bargaining will lead, not only to a more egalitarian society, but a more successful economy. This is the model followed by Germany & Scandinavian countries & this is what the Ministry of Employment Rights will deliver. Thanks to Institute of Employment Rights for the video.

Johnson criticised Corbyn and Labour for wanting to implement a four day week (the policy is actually to reduce average working hours)...so the PM wants people in the UK to continue to have some of the longest working hours in Europe🤷‍♀️

'We know that pay stagnation & income inequality are a direct result of the attack on workers’ ability to organise through their trade union.' The best way to reverse this trend, to feel freer to express your opinion & realise your rights is to join a trade union.

Last week @ the TUC, I launched our plans for a Ministry of Employment Rights. This’ll be the biggest transformation in workplaces for a generation, restoring dignity to workers & putting their interests at the ♥️ of our economy.
