The Premier's story to Albertans was that letters from the AESO and the AUC dated July 21st requested the renewables moratorium. We now know this is impossible. The Minister's talking points for a meeting on July 20th state that the government had already directed the AUC.

Add to that the evidence that at least some market players may have known about this weeks in advance? A policy like this is relevant to valuations of firms, projects, etc. Real possibility that transactions or regulatory filings were affected depending on who knew when.

The bigger issue isn't that she lied. It's that she used the reputations of two independent bodies (the AESO and the AUC) as well as the RMA to do so over and over and over. The AESO and the AUC let it stand. This is so damaging to the AESO and the AUC as well as to the Premier.

A patient is not just acute care, just continuing care, just primary care, just mental health & addictions care

Most are combinations of this & many are all 4

Failure to grasp this medical reality is why such organizational decisions should not be made by political whim

The Alberta survey on a potential Alberta Pension Plan is brutal - doesn't ask anywhere what you think of the idea itself. By all means fill it out and colour outside of the lines.

But also email [email protected] and register your opinion. Ignore typos. Be counted.

I don’t like the idea of political parties in municipal politics. Ideology can be a powerful drug, and towing the party line isn’t always in the best interest of constituents.

I prefer city councillors that follow the research and the needs of their constituents.

Deirdre Mitchell-MacLean Hopeful Cynic with MS X (aka Patrick) 🇨🇦🇺🇦 Guaranteed/ highly partisan/ single hot issue voters will be the death of democracy. There’s a lot of forces trying to convert people into staunch supporters because they know how easily they come along on any issue once the switch has been flipped.

One of the seven “mountains” that evangelical dominionism believes it must control to bring about the end of the world is the media—the news; the press.

In Alberta, this has largely been achieved as Postmedia, Shaw/Rogers, CTV(Bell) all support Conservatives.

What would UCPers be saying If Notley:

Had by far the largest cabinet in Alberta history.

Wasted $10M on ads for Alberta renewable energy.

Tried to take their CPP.

Brought lab work back to AHS

Took control of AHS

Created more middle management jobs

Gave $300M to flames

Danielle Smith’s government lied about reason for Alberta renewables pause, documents show.

Good read here from Drew Anderson, who FOIPed a bunch of documents about the renewables pause, including briefing notes.
