As a school we are always trying to provide opportunities for our children, and to develop as staff. This evening we were lucky enough to attend a training session on developing our global links and take the first steps in achieving our Bronze Global School Award Monksdown Primary

Today we were lucky enough to welcome ITV into school. The children discussed the impact the cost of living is having on children in Liverpool and the messages they have for those in charge. The recording will be aired on the 16th May on the Current Affairs programme

We were pleased to be able to take part in some of this years Global School Alliance Earth Day celebrations. With the the theme of Dream about a Green Earth, the day celebrated the wonderful Planet we live in and ways in which we can work to keep our Earth safe and thriving.

Our children loved sharing their voice at Schools Parliament. It has been a great opportunity for children from all over Liverpool to come together to discuss what they feel impacts them and what they would like to do to change the future. We are so proud of you all.

It was a pleasure to welcome some Liverpool John Moores University journalist students to Monksdown Primary yesterday. Children met to discuss child poverty in Liverpool and why they feel supporting families with campaigns such as Free School Meals is so important No Child Left Behind Abigail

Our French subject leads did an amazing job planning, running and recording a wonderful themed day. Children focussed on countries that spoke French creating two page spreads and even experiencing a French cafe.

We are so excited to be able to attend this celebration and meet like minded educators.

Once again our Child Citizen group left feeling inspired. It was great to meet up again with such wonderful organisations across Liverpool working together to make change. They enjoyed getting to know more of you and volunteering for as many groups as they could Citizens UK

After attending sessions with LFC Foundation and learning about Hillsborough our children wanted to take time to visit the memorial and show their respect.

It was great to meet with Elaine from Cobalt Housing today. The children had the opportunity to discuss some of the things they would like to see in our local area and the changes they would want to help make.
