Bright blooms are bursting to life in our gardens, greeting the first day of spring. Yellow daffodils are flowering beneath ancient planes and flowing through the winter garden.

Stately spring snowflakes are spreading out beside the font, mingling with daffodils and primroses.

They're often confused with snowdrops due to their similar bell-shaped white flowers, but these elegant bulbs generally bloom later, in the full sunshine of spring.

Magnolia trees planted beside the house are in full bloom against the brickwork, and the magnolia archway is following close behind.

Cheerful chionodoxa flowers have started to unfurl in the lime avenue. Soon, the grass between these trees will be a haze of periwinkle blue.

We’re working with a specialist textile conservator to improve the condition of the curtains in our Study – original features from last owner Maud Russel’s design scheme for the house. Last week we removed the curtains to begin work, starting with a careful clean. #TextileTuesday

The first, early spring bulbs are beginning to emerge in our gardens. There are glimmers of gold from blooming daffodils, and rich purple crocuses are nudging up among the grass.
