Nonetheless we feel very privileged and blessed to call these people our friends, they look up to us with high respect, yes volunteering week in, week out is tiring work, but tremendously rewarding particularly when most of all is by having friendship, love and understanding.

It fosters a sense of community and it is very lovely but at the same time extremely sad because there shouldn't be a need for us or any soup run to be there.

They look forward to seeing us each week, they will share a laugh, have a chat, a cry, they will tell their problems and their happiness. They really feel part of a family there now.

One of the things we have noticed each week, as well as tonight's, is that when we get there, the volunteers that have been with Muslim Sisters of Eire for a long time, are recognized and greeted by the homeless by their names.

Blessed with a hot meal and plenty of fresh fruits, yogurts, cheese and sandwiches. We were humbled, happy to be able to serve everybody.

As usual, it was a busy Friday night at the soup run. We just had 350 meals and we were a bit worried it wouldn't be enough food for everybody in need.

Thank God, everyone from the queue, who got from one end to the other end of the table would walk away with a bag full of food.

A huge call out to any restaurants who are in a position to donate meals to us at least once a month - please contact us!

To all the restaurants and to everyone who has made a donation, we can’t thank you enough for the amazing work that you do.

We hope that other restaurants partner with us to provide meals. If we had around 600-700 meals tonight, all of them would’ve been handed out.

If you would like to help us or donate, please visit msoe.ie/donate/.

We make sure that we always start at the bottom of the queue and work our way up - as we are mindful that some people will not receive a meal. All we can do is be grateful and thankful that we’re in a position to be doing what we do.

This was really disappointing for them since some people queue for 2 hours and sometimes only reach the front of the queue at 8.30pm. We do try to help where we can. Whilst people are standing in the queue, we hand out crisps, pastries, drinks, and fruits

The crowd was very uneasy and we found it quite difficult to control them.

Unfortunately, it was a sad night, we had just under 400 meals tonight and as the queue neared the end, the food ran out. There were about 10 people who didn’t receive a meal.

Tonight was extremely chaotic and it was difficult for us to determine which group of people required assistance. We had a mixed group of people lined up including students, homeless people, rough sleepers, immigrants, people in accommodation and people experiencing food poverty.
