#MomentsOfBeauty in #Glasgow : For those concerned that the wee #Brutalist Buchanan Street gem, the BOAC Building by architects Gillespie Kidd & Coia, with all its white heat of technology character, was vacant, good news as it looks like it isn’t going to vacant for long 👀👇😅!
Really enjoyed Professor David Archibald’s inaugural lecture with The Tenementals - A History of Glasgow: Seven Theses & Seven Songs, which was in Websters Theatre last night. Great fun + the lyrics are a good example of how to explore intangible aspects of #GlasgowHeritage 🤔🥰!
Excited to be recording Glasgow City Heritage Trust #IfGlasgowsWallsCouldTalk podcast with After the Garden Festival... in #Glasgow ’s South Rotunda on the River Clyde aka Nardini’s / ‘The Dome of Discovery’ which is now the HQ for Malin Group = check out the view of the Finnieston Crane…👀👇😮🥰!
It was a good meeting Dr Soryia B Siddique many thanks for arranging it. Glasgow City Heritage Trust have already worked with Glasgow City Council on repairs to a ‘B’ listed tenement in this key block within the Glasgow Central Conservation Area, so we are happy to work collaboratively to get it turned around 👍!
For those not in the know, this is the townhouse of Helen Cargill Thompson, the grande dame of #GlasgowHeritage . Designed by École des Beaux-Arts trained architect J A Campbell, it is like the Tenement House as it is largely untouched since the Edwardian era. Worth a visit 👇😉!
Saving #GlasgowHeritage : Out on site checking repairs at ‘A’ listed Miller Hall on Alexandra Parade. Sadly, due to wide open joints in the stonework leading to water ingress and rust jacking of the steel frame, the belfries either side of the huge arch need to be rebuilt 👀👇!
#MomentsOfBeauty in #Glasgow : As it is #IronworkThursday , this is the Neo Greek gate, with mini me Tympanum, by Hugh & David Barclay for their ‘A’ listed St George’s in the Fields church at 485 St George’s Road, Glasgow. Thankfully, the gate survived the WW2 cull of ironwork 🥰!
