Late night talking 🎶
Tuesday night, TBIRD, a NASA Laser Communications payload, transmitted 4.8 TB of error-free data in a single downlink to Earth! Laser communications is one of the many game-changing technologies NASA SCaN is working on to advance networking capabilities.
NASA’s SpaceX CRS-29 will bring exciting new experiments to the space station! ILLUMA-T will be installed on an external module and showcase the benefits NASA Laser Communications systems. 10/31/2023
Get psyched for Psyche! Aboard the mission to a metal-rich asteroid will be the NASA Laser Communications terminal called DSOC, which will test sending high-bandwidth laser comm links as Psyche travels into deep space.

NASA’s SpaceX CRS-29 will bring exciting new experiments to the space station! ILLUMA-T will be installed on an external module and showcase the benefits NASA Laser Communications systems can provide to missions in low Earth orbit. More about this NASA Technology: go.nasa.gov/45TM0NW
More #Artemis II hardware delivered! We're flying a NASA Laser Communications payload aboard our crewed flight test around the Moon, and it recently arrived at NASA's Kennedy Space Center for integration into Orion Spacecraft. The lasercomm terminal can transmit 260 megabits per second: go.nasa.gov/3XpB1s5
Dear 2023, that's a wrap! 🎁
It's been an incredible year for NASA Laser Communications, having launched multiple record-breaking demo missions and clearing the runway for future space operations. Heading into 2024, we can't get this line out of our heads: 'Exploration, enabled.' 🛰️🎵
The Near Space Network is infusing laser communications!
Traditionally, space communication occurs over radio frequency signals, but NASA Laser Communications offers missions higher data rates – meaning more data from space in a single transmission. More data = more discoveries.

How does Psyche use NASA Laser Communications? And how does Dr. J look so cool talking about data capabilities? 🤔
Well, some things can't be explained—but 1 out of 2 is not bad! Hear Dr. Mitchell's thoughts on the Deep Space Optical Communications experiment and the Psyche mission:
Developing laser communications systems is no easy feat! Trisha Randazzo led the integration and testing for the laser communications terminal now on the International Space Station - ILLUMA-T!
