Today we reflect and say THANK YOU to all our Sailors and civilians who are the backbone of Naval Station Norfolk. Thank you for your service, dedication and hard work each and everyday! Also a huge thank you to the family members who hold it all together!

Today, on Juneteenth - also known as Freedom Day - we commemorate the ending of slavery in the United States. In 1865, Union General Gordon Granger sailed to Galveston, Texas to announce that the Civil War had ended, and slaves had been freed.
