Rather late, but, had a fascinating time at the NHM Botany Taxonomic Principles and Tools in Botanical Research course, specialising in Bryophytes, last month Natural History Museum.
A fantastic insight behind the scenes with a sunny field trip to Thursley Common, what's not to enjoy?

Here is a plant specimen in the herbarium of Robert Uvedale (1642-1722); its label is in the hand of Charles Du Bois (1658-1740), cashier-general of the East India Company. But what scrap paper did he use to write it on? NHM Botany Richard Coulton Fragmentarium Madeline White

Check out this story of a rare plant specimen collection reaching Virginia Tech Herbarium from NHM Botany (@dr_norb), dating back to the 1840s. Amazing history!

A wonderful day looking at Spikerush (Eleocharis) in the British and Irish herbarium NHM Botany
I confess to doing a little dance at one point as my search gave me E. palustris subsp. palustris.

Natural History Museum Science Sarah Woodfin NHM Botany We don't know a lot about Mr George but he made a very large and significant collection of seaweeds from places he visited on holidays. I like to think of him floating out this enormous seaweed in the lodgings bath tub and getting in trouble with the landlady! If only we knew!
