The earthquakes in #Afghanistan are yet another devastating blow to the Afghan people, who were already struggling. The Netherlands is in close contact with its humanitarian partners on the ground to channel aid towards the site. Our thoughts go out to everyone affected.

Heartbreaking to learn about the ravaging effects of the earthquakes in #Afghanistan . I feel for the many Afghans who have lost loved ones in this tragedy, and all those in urgent need of help. The Netherlands is coordinating with partners to offer support.

On 5 May the Netherlands celebrates #LiberationDay . A day to cherish, celebrate, and reflect on our freedom. We also realise the importance of international cooperation and solidarity to grant this safety. Living in freedom requires responsibility, from all of us.

On World Press Freedom Day, the EU stands with all journalists around the world and praise the courage of those fighting against censorship and repression, for an open definition of freedom of press, freedom of speech and opinion, not defined nor limited by any national interest.

On 4 May, the Netherlands commemorates the victims of war. At 8PM today, we observe two minutes of silence in honour those we have lost. Together we remember.

I condemn today’s attacks in west Kabul once again targeting #Hazara #schoolchildren causing lives lost & dozens of casualties. I offer condolences to families & call for #investigation and #accountability for perpetrators

I would like to share the expression of disappointment following reports that Afghan girls will not be allowed to attend secondary school. This seems contradicting to previous announcements made by AFG df authorities, violating internat. conventions to which AFG is a party.
