While snowfall totals were well below normal this winter, 2024 has been quite wet across much of the Eastern US. The total precipitation (rainfall and liquid equivalent of any snow/sleet/ice) so far during 2024 as of 5 pm Sat April 13th has been above normal at most locations.

Updated...Storm surveys have confirmed 55 tornadoes across the Eastern US from the April 2-3, 2024 storms.
Tornadoes by intensity: 12-EF2s, 31-EF1s, 10 EF0s & 2 yet to be finalized.
Tornadoes by state: KY-16, IN-9, OH-8, IL-7, AL-6, WV-4, GA-3, TN-1, VA-1, FL-1

Heavy, wet snow will develop across parts of the Northeast Wed afternoon & continuing into early Fri. The wet snow combined with strong wind gusts may also cause tree damage and power outages. Moderate coastal flooding is also expected late Wed through Thu along Northeast coast.

A threat of a severe weather outbreak today across the Ohio Valley, with the risk of severe weather also extending into the Southeast. Strong and potentially long-track tornadoes are possible from Indiana and Ohio south into the Mid South, as well as damaging winds & large hail.
