African migrants constantly face inadequate language access in shelters—among many other barriers the City must address.

Accurate language services means everyone can communicate better—whether they speak Mandingo, Wolof, Fulani, or any other African indigenous languages.

Our annual Claims Report found that the City's car crash settlement payouts totaled $173.7 million in FY 2023—a 23 percent increase from the previous year.

This is the highest number of car crash claims against the city in over TWO DECADES!

Exciting news! NYC pension funds just reached an agreement with telecom giants to boost worker safety measures.

This is a significant step forward to protect the safety and well-being of the communication tower workers who keep us connected.

Black migrants, who are disproportionately harmed by every aspect of our immigration system, deserve language justice, dignity, and access to services.

Thanks Alexa Avilés and Mercedes Narcisse for holding this critical hearing—we need equity and anti-racism in everything we do.

My New York City Council testimony: Business, leisure, and tourist heliports need to be CHOPPED❌

The constant whirring and carbon spewing from helicopters from the Downtown Manhattan and East 34th Street heliports make residents of Manhattan and Brooklyn miserable.comptroller.nyc.gov/newsroom/testi…

Every year, NYC Youth Agenda makes policy recommendations based on a huge survey of young New Yorkers.

I loved welcoming future civic leaders to 1 Centre Street to hear this year's policy agenda on mental health, environmental justice, housing, education, and economic mobility!

🚨NEW ANNUAL CLAIMS REPORT🚨

The City paid $1.5B in settlements last year—including $266M at NYPD.

That's $1.5B we could have spent in our schools and neighborhoods.

We must hold City agencies accountable for claims so there is incentive to reduce them. comptroller.nyc.gov/reports/annual…

⚠️ ICYMI: My office returned $119,000 in stolen wages to building workers in Queens.

Let this settlement serves as a warning to all companies in New York City:

You MUST follow the law when it comes to fair compensation.

Sammy Cohen-Eckstein was my neighbor.

The best time to pass Sammy’s Law was 10+ years ago when it could have saved his life. The second best time is now.

Albany must change NY state law this session to let New York City lower the speed limit and save lives.

An urgently important report from Office of New York City Comptroller Brad Lander:
'[It] is critical that the City & State work together to reinvest in CUNY, & therefore reinvest in our workers, in economic mobility, & in a thriving New York City economy.' Hey Governor Kathy Hochul Mayor Eric Adams: we need a !

DocGo?

More like DocGONE.

I'm glad to see the Adams Administration winding down its dubious $432 million no-bid contract with migrant service provider DocGo.

But its replacement, Garner, is still extremely expensive. We'll be watching closely.

DocGo has 0 experience providing migrant services.

It does, however, have a history of interfering with law enforcement and workplace violations.

Glad to see NYC Mayor's Office finally heed my warnings and wind down its $432M no-bid contract with DocGo. ny1.com/nyc/all-boroug…

Good Cause protections ensure that rent-paying New Yorkers won't be evicted because their landlord thinks someone else can pay more.

ANOTHER WIN FOR WORKERS ⚡️

My office returned $119K in stolen wages to building service workers in Queens.

Companies cannot expect to reap tax breaks like 421-a and not pay their employees the required wages and benefits. I won’t tolerate it.
