At William Grant Foundation, we support prizes and awards through our Scottish Culture and Heritage theme, incl. Highland Book Prize and Scottish Portrait & Landscape Awards. Good blog here from Paul Ramsbottom on the value of prizes, especially in the arts & humanities.

Congratulations to our friends on the Isle of Kerrera on the opening of their community hub in the old school. Pleased that William Grant Foundation was able to play a small part in supporting this amazing effort by the island's residents. These had been on my list for a long time. Finally got the opportunity to go find them on a sunny day last weekend. (I post occasional threads about monuments and curiosities like these over on my other account Hilltop Monuments.)

Good advice here for charities to get on the front foot and engage with their funders about how to make reporting work better for both parties.

Really interesting datasets and tools being developed by MyCake. Lots of potential for to help build evidence base about third sector, better understand financial models, risks and vulnerabilities and to help inform efforts to promote resilience and development.

In these challenging times, it might be useful for orgs to have someone to talk to when things get serious. So sharing this again:
Scottish charities & social enterprises can get advice quickly via the 'crisis recovery' button on the Social Enterprise Map's website. ⬇️

Useful podcast unpicking forecasts of climate migration. Yes, ppl will have to move, but most displacement will be *within* affected countries, while financial impact on the most vulnerable will actually *reduce* their ability to migrate.
