Actually, this picture is disdainful. The Highest elected official of Malaysia saluting and sending off a corporate boss.

I recently discovered that both my maternal and paternal lineage had penghulu ancestors. I feel like that played a role in putting my family well in place to benefit from DEB. I wonder how many successful Malay middle-class families have similar ancestral backgrounds.

The goal for urbanists or cycling commuters isnt to force everyone to cycle to work. But it’s to make this option more widely available to more people.

Found another fellow bicycle commuter in Jalan Smemarak’s bicycle lane.

Presented as Mat, he frequently bikes to work for the past 3 month with his hard tail MTB.

Works in LRT Ampang Park area and stayed in Setapak. We parted ways only at the end of of our usual route.

As it should be. we've been justifying low wages for far too long by relying on subsidies. on the face of it, this is a net positive.

With no rain for several months in many areas of Thailand and a record breaking heatwave, a rain-making ceremony was held. Traditionally, a real cat would be used, but it seems the locals decided on Doraemon instead—a modern twist against animal cruelty.

My theory; Malaysians have no idea of what exactly we want.

We want MRTs, parks, live close to work, cheap food, subsidies. But also want to drive cars fast, landed houses, and no migrants

Most young Malaysians prefer landed housing with more bedrooms AND live in an urban area

Malaysian urban planning has made people to drive their kids to schools and to do other tasks that can be easily accomplished by walking

Start by making schools safe and comfortable to walk to and you’d make your kids shift their from car-centric mindset of the world around them

I dont disagree with you, cultural preservation in KL could be much better. But your examples seem oddly dismissive of its remaining heritage. I can certainly feel KL’s history when praying at Masjid Jamek, hanging at Dataran, walking through Chow Kit and Kg Baru
