Really sad to hear we are losing the China project. It says a lot when many of the most respected names in China journalism mourn the shutdown of one of the few remaining sources of insight into the country.

Along with many at Reuters, I’m devastated at loss of Issam Abdallah, such a nice, talented guy, who really believed in journalism and its mission. It’s unreal this war claimed the life of my kind colleague, I hope it can be a wake up call, not an excuse for more pointless death
