Waxwings flycatching from the garden treetops.

Absolutely thrilled to watch a flock of around 80 Waxwings moving through the garden this lunchtime. They made short work of the hawthorn berries before vanishing into a rain-laden sky.

Nice to find a Great White Egret at Myroe Levels today. Also 5 Curlew Sandpipers, 32 Slavonian Grebes and 100+ Whooper Swans there. Then over to Portrush for the Surf Scoter NI Birds

A Bahama Woodstar from Turks and Caicos. This species of hummingbird only weighs around 2.5 grams, making them incredibly difficult to spot. I was fortunate to have this one land close by for a few seconds!

Thrilled to have spent a few days (and nights) helping to monitor Audubon’s Shearwaters (chick shown) in Turks and Caicos with Rhiannon Austin. Though I’m not sure how you are expected to sleep with Sooty Terns making their “wide-awake” calls all night!

Finally managed to track down some Pearly-eyed Thrashers on Turks and Caicos. This species is endemic to the Eastern Caribbean.

So far, I have found the locals on Turks and Caicos to be very friendly. Last night I invited this yellow-crowned night heron round for a dip in the pool 😂

Endemic to the Western Antilles, Bahama Mockingbirds are relatively common on Turks and Caicos, but I couldn’t believe my luck when I saw this!

Was taking some obligatory selfies at Grace Bay Beach, Turks and Caicos this morning when this brown pelican flew in for a look! And yes, the sea really is that blue!
