I'm really pleased that this is out. This is a beautiful study from Dan Levenstein that demonstrates how sequential predictive learning can account for both the structure of online hippocampal representations and offline 'replay'. A unifying theory of hippocampal function! 😀
Episode #11 in #TheoreticalNeurosciencePodcast : On synaptic learning rules for spiking neurons – with Friedemann Zenke Friedemann Zenke

How can we do supervised learning of spiking networks? And how can neurons self-supervise their learning?
How do neuromuscular delays limit the speed and robustness of behavior? We built a multi-layered 3D model of fly walking to investigate what happens when delays exceed the physiological range. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Led by Lili Karashchuk and Lisa Li, in collabo w Bing Wen Brunton.
Richard Miles, a key scientist in the fields of hippocampal synaptic communication, networks and epilepsy, has died in Guadeloupe. A great mentor and scientist, he will be sorely missed. Our obituary of Richard in Journal of Physiology, his favourite journal.
