I'm really pleased that this is out. This is a beautiful study from Dan Levenstein that demonstrates how sequential predictive learning can account for both the structure of online hippocampal representations and offline 'replay'. A unifying theory of hippocampal function! 😀

How can we do supervised learning of spiking networks? And how can neurons self-supervise their learning?

Marr has computation, algorithm, and mechanism. Tinbergen got evo, devo, goal, and mechanism. But whats the name for 'I just fit something and great R2. Many papers do it. It does not fit into Marr nor Tinbergen. How is it called? Nihilism?

We don't have a theory for the laminar structure of cortex. 'neoSSL' suggests it is about self prediction 👇

I noticed ppl disregarding the NYMag piece bc it focused on Huberman’s personal life, not bad science & harmful misinformation he propagates.

So I wrote a thing.
